Abstract:The crystal structure of the mordenite modified by supplementing Al3+ on Si4+ was studied with IR, DTA, and XRD. The results indicated that the crystal structure of nature mordenite remains unchanged. But, more Na+, K+, and other positive ions have gone into lattices due to negative charges produced by supplementing Al3+ on Si4+. This increased crystal water is combined with positive ions. Supplementing Al3+ on Si4+ also results in that the dimension of unit cells of mordenite was extended,the volume of vacancies in the mordenite was expanded and the adsorption capacity of the modified mordenite was increased.
